Last autumn, we visited the Asia-Pacific Circular Economy Roundtable in Taiwan. A country that transformed from "Garbage Island" to a recycling rate of 55% for household waste and 77% for industrial waste. And all that in roughly 25 years. It was an inspiring place to visit, given our focus on sustainable IT solutions within the circular economy and cybersecurity. Now, we are taking this approach even more seriously by expanding Team Tible to Asia!

How it started

Let’s take a step back to the roundtable in Taiwan. Among others, we met Minister Peng Chi-ming (彭啟明), a scientist and currently the Minister of Environment in Taiwan. We also explained to the President of the Republic of China, Lai Ching-te (賴清德), how our Reverse Vending Collector can support Taiwan's circular economy. These were great first steps, but to truly gain a foothold, a local approach is required. After all, fulfilling our mission is simply not possible from a distance of 9,000 kilometers.

That is why we are partnering with LMK Consulting, who will represent our interests regarding cybersecurity and our Deposit Return System in Asia.

Who is LMK?

Mark Rijsdijk and his team, with over 17 years of experience in Asia, will support us from their office in Taiwan. A location we didn't choose lightly. As Mark explains so well:

“Having an office in Taiwan is strategically advantageous, as Taiwan is a dynamic and thriving hub in Asia, serving as a gateway to various Asian markets.”

His team understands how Asian markets operate and how to establish partnerships there. While much can be done remotely, building partnerships requires presence. Face-to-face conversations, understanding cultural nuances, and acting quickly. Mark knows the region, speaks the language, and understands how business works. They represent Tible with local knowledge that we do not possess.
